The PCS MD Division has once again had the privilege to work with the Kiewit Corporation for the third year on the WMATA Station Platform Rehabilitation Program. Working amongst other trades PCS completed critical path items in order to help meet the projects deadline.

Paul E. Garber Building – Decontamination & Selective Demolition

Supervisor: Cristian Perez PCS completed selective demolition and decontaminations services for the Smithsonian institutes Paul E. Garber Building which houses aeronautical artifacts dating back to as far as WWI. We set up clean rooms to decontaminate aircraft parts from dust and mold utilizing HEPA vacuums and wet wipe techniques to assure the preservation of them for years to come.

The Sellman House – Asbestos and Lead Abatement

Supervisor: Eric Lainez PCS Completed Asbestos and Lead abatement on the Smithsonian Institutes, Sellman House, which was originally constructed in the 1700’s. With over 3 decades of history behind this home, PCS took great care in abating its walls, floors and ceilings in an effort to maintain its original structural components.

Multinational Technology Company – Lobby Renovations

Supervisor: James Hall PCS was contracted to perform the selective demolition and saw cutting activities for one of the worlds largest technology firms. Demolition consisted of a full lobby gut to include removal of concrete steps, planters, ceramic floor tile and casework throughout the lobby. PCS's DXR 140 Robot was utilized to safely remove the 2 level concrete landing and stairs. Renovations also took place in the lobby restrooms to include tile, partition and accessory removal.

Spring Mill Corporate Center – Exterior Selective Demolition

Supervisor: Francisco Rivera PCS was contracted to complete the exterior selective demolition at the Spring Mill Corporate Center. Our experienced crews utilized several pieces of equipment to gain access to the canopies that were slated for demolition. Metal roofing, decking, framing and soffits were removed and placed in dumpsters for proper disposal. The Canopy columns were removed via saw cutting and cut 6 inches below the sidewalk to allow for new construction to take place.

Prologis Warehouse – Interior Demolition Gut

Demolition Supervisor: John Bailey Saw Cutting Supervisor: Shawn Kennedy PCS was contracted by a local Allentown General Contractor for the complete gut of 30,000 SF warehouse. John Bailey directed his crew to remove all interior components consisting of GWB partitions, ceilings, carpet & vinyl tile and MEP systems throughout. Once the carpet & vinyl tile were removed, all adhesives were removed via diamond grinding to create a CSP #2 smooth surface profile that minimizes prep work for the flooring company and allows new materials to bond directly to the substrate. Our robot operator, Shawn Kennedy was on site to assist with the 24 and 10 foot high CMU partition removal throughout the space.

WellSpan York Hospital – Steel Tank Removal

Supervisors: Chris Maurer & Kevin Carattini PCS was excited to finally start the 3/4 inch plated steel tank removal project at the WellSpan York Hospital with James Craft & Son. The design, bidding & planning for this project has been ongoing for almost 3 years. An abandoned hot water steam tank that was approximately 6 FT high by 30 FT wide was on the top floor mechanical room of the hospital. Chris Maurer & Kevin Carattini lead their crews in making this removal possible. Their crews had saw cut the tank into manageable sections to be lowered down 6 stories to the ground by a 115 Ton crane for proper disposal/ recycling.
