Progress is underway at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center in Edgewater, MD.  PCS, Inc. was contracted by  CMF Engineering, Inc. to provide selective demolition services to the brick mansion ruins located on the 575-acre historic property of Contee Farm. PCS demolition crews are removing tree stumps, roots, rubble and soil around the ruins and are salvaging all brick onsite. Crews are excavating soil down to the basement levels in two areas of the mansion, all by hand. To avoid affecting the structural integrity, PCS is not using any heavy machinery onsite.
