March 7, 2019Meet Erica, our Human Resources Manager here at PCS. Erica brings over 10 years of construction knowledge and experience and also has her MBA, Masters in Human Resources Management and holds a SHRM-CP Certification. She always provides creative, out-of-the-box thinking when it comes to recruiting, employee engagement and employee relations. When asked what one of the most rewarding parts of her job is, she said “Watching an employee start from the ground-up to become a leader or supervisor in the field and/or office.”

What has working in the construction industry done for you, both professionally and personally?
Professionally this industry definitely requires me to exercise creative out of the box thinking in the the areas of recruiting, employee engagement, employee relations etc. Personally, I have learned that this industry requires me to continually educate myself because there are always new challenges to face.
What is your favorite aspect of working in the construction industry?
I love being a woman in a male dominated industry. It allows me to showcase my education and experience to provide a non- traditional perspective on how to handle the unique issues that arise in this industry.
What’s the most challenging part of your job?
Recruiting and maintaining a cohesive workforce .
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Watching an employee start from the ground up to become a leader or supervisor in the field and/or office.
What would you say to younger females considering a career in construction?
GO FOR IT! In an industry that typically doesn’t have a large female base, it is the perfect opportunity for a woman to come in and bring a fresh perspective to how this industry can be improved and advanced.
