HARRISBURG, PA – PCS, Inc. is wrapping up the renovation project at the Fulton Bank in the Midtown district of Harrisburg, PA. The renovations will turn the former bank into an art museum. The Susquehanna Arts Museum is expected to open January 2015.

Several different PCS, Inc. services were utilized in this historic renovation, including selective demolition, asbestos abatement, excavation, and floor removal.  Many of the building’s old structures and features were kept intact, such as the grand ornate clock that sits above a massive money vault. To protect these historical items, PCS, Inc. constructed plywood barriers around the structures. The clock and vault will serve as the focal point when entering the museum.

Our skilled selective demolition team removed various components from the old building, including carpeting, windows, terrazzo flooring, masonry walls, various casework, partitions, chair rails, and wood shelving. Due to the age of the building, asbestos abatement was necessary. The abatement team abated over 3,000SF of plaster from the basement, almost 2,000SF of floor tile and 1,000LF of pipe insulation. These work areas were sealed off to all other trades while the abatement took place.

PCS, Inc. performed saw cutting to create new duct openings, widened the door openings and removed a window in order to saw cut for a new door. PCS, Inc. also performed hand excavation for basement footings as well as the demolition of concrete slab in the basement.

All hazardous material removal, excavation, demolition and saw cutting were completed on time and without incident. PCS, Inc. averaged a crew of 4 to 7 throughout the project
