Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects by analyzing drawings, specifications, and other documentation. You will play a critical role in helping our company bid and secure projects.

Job Responsibilities

  • Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to prepare comprehensive cost estimates
  • Conduct site visits for upcoming bid opportunities to understand project scope, access, and existing conditions
  • Perform on-screen quantity takeoffs and create detailed costs estimates
  • Submit pre-bid RFI’s
  • Responding to client leads and attend scope review meetings
  • Analyze labor, material, and equipment to determine project costs
  • Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers/Subcontractors
  • Prepare and submit timely bid proposals for public, private and federal projects
  • Maintain and update a database of historical costs, unit prices, and productivity rates
  • Work closely with project managers and clients to ensure accurate and competitive estimates
  • Assist in value engineering and cost control measures to maintain project budget
  • Participate in project handoff meetings to ensure smooth transition from estimating to project management
  • Track bid results and adjust estimating methods accordingly

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field (preferred but not required)
  • 3+ years of experience in construction estimating
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and codes
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings
  • Proficient in estimating software and excel  
  • Excellent in analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in team settings to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines
