At Power Component Systems, Construction Safety Week is more than a yearly event — it is a chance to pause, reconnect, and reinforce the responsibility we share on every jobsite, every day. Safety is at the center of how we work, how we support one another, and how we protect the people who trust us to deliver. This year’s theme, “All In Together,” focused on the importance of recognizing hazards, responding with care and urgency, and respecting the role each person plays in creating a safer workplace. Throughout the week, our teams came together to reflect on what safety means beyond policies and procedures: looking out for each other, staying accountable, and making sure everyone goes home safely at the end of the day.
As part of Construction Safety Week, PCS held our annual safety meeting, an important tradition for our company and a reflection of the value we place on the safety and well-being of every member of our team. These meetings give us the opportunity to come together, step away from the day-to-day pace of the jobsite, and focus on what matters most: making sure our people are protected, supported, and able to return home safely each day.
This year, we had the honor of welcoming guest speaker Lee Shelby, whose message made a lasting impression on our teams. Through his personal story and experience, Lee spoke about the real-life impact of workplace safety and the importance of awareness, safe work practices, and personal responsibility. His words reminded us that safety is not just something we talk about during one week of the year. It is something we carry into every decision, every task, and every jobsite.
We also invited our employees to participate in the PCS Safety Promise Contest by sharing what this year’s theme, Recognize • Respond • Respect, means to them and how they apply these principles to protect themselves and others each day. The responses we received were thoughtful, honest, and a true reflection of the safety culture we continue to build at PCS.
We are proud to recognize Bryan Adams and Jennifer Cordon as this year’s Safety Promise Contest winners. Bryan described Recognize, Respond, and Respect as “a three-pillar framework for operational excellence and shared humanity,” emphasizing the importance of having “safety eyes,” taking action when something is wrong, and understanding that “no task is so urgent that it justifies compromising safety.” Jennifer shared that recognizing hazards, responding immediately and appropriately, and respecting safety rules, equipment, and teammates all work together to prevent incidents and create a safer work environment for everyone.
Their responses stood out because they captured what safety means at PCS in a very real way. Safety is awareness. It is speaking up. It is taking action before something goes wrong. It is respecting the people working beside us and understanding that every choice we make can affect someone else.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s Safety Promise Contest, attended our safety meetings, helped coordinate the week’s activities, and continues to make safety a priority every day. Construction Safety Week may happen once a year, but the commitment behind it is part of who we are. At PCS, we are all in together — recognizing risks, responding with purpose, respecting one another, and working every day to make sure everyone goes home safe.
