45 Years of Excellence:

PCS’s Journey from 1980

This coming year, PCS will proudly celebrate its landmark 45th anniversary. Established by David Leach in 1980 as an insulation consulting firm and later joined by co-owner Alex Schmidt in 1987, PCS has experienced a tremendous amount of growth and transformation in recent decades. Starting out as just a small asbestos abatement contractor in the mid-80’s eventually led to continuous diversification within the environmental and selective demolition fronts. As a result, PCS has established itself as the industry leader providing a vast array of specialized construction services related to both environmental remediation and selective demolition. With three operational offices located in MD, PA and VA, we are able to respond and perform work at federal, commercial, institutional, industrial and health care facilities in seven states throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

PCS IS EXPANDING

VA Division Office Grand Opening

PCS has outgrown its first location in Richmond and is very excited to announce the grand opening of a 4,600 SF office and warehouse facility at 5370 S. Laburnum Ave. in Henrico, VA. Not only does our new location have more room for employees, tools, equipment, consumable materials and vehicles but it is also in close proximity to the city, Richmond Int’l Airport, I-95, I-295, & I-64. A most convenient location will allow our VA Division to better respond to our customer’s selective demolition and abatement needs on projects in Richmond, Charlottesville, Fredericksburg, Williamsburg, Newport News, Norfolk, Chesapeake and Virginia Beach.
This relocation marks yet another significant milestone in PCS, Inc.’s expansion throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. If you have not already, please connect with our Project Manager, Greg Elms and Estimator, Luke Boone. Here’s to continued success and a future full of possibilities!

Joe and Katie Herlihy: Just Married!

On August 31st, Project Manager Joe Herlihy and his now wife Katie celebrated a momentous occasion as they tied the knot in a beautiful wedding that left everyone in attendance with cherished memories. The wedding was nothing short of amazing, filled with joy, love, and laughter. Among the guests were several members of our PA team, who had the pleasure of witnessing this special day firsthand and joining in the celebrations. We couldn’t be happier for Joe and Katie! Here’s to a lifetime filled with love, adventure, and endless happiness. May the force be with you!

She Said Yes!

Travis Travis Zembower, our PA Operations Admin Manager, brought exciting news to our team this past summer by announcing his engagement to his girlfriend of three years. ‘We got engaged on June 16th on the beach, I dropped to one knee and popped the question. She asked if I was joking and was I serious 4 times before she gave me her answer. We’ve spent about 3 years together. She’s a manager over at Hershey Med, PCS does a lot of work for them and have a great relationship with that company. And in July, we adopted a rescue together, Luna, she just turned a year old. She just moved in with me and my house has been taken over by what seem like an infinite amount of shoes’. Congratulations to the happy couple! We wish you both the best on this exciting new adventure, filled with love, puppy adventures and tons of shoes!

Vanessa Argueta - Assistant Project Manger

Vanessa, our Virginia Assistant Project Manager, has a lot to celebrate this year. She is not only working for our newest location in Virginia but she also became a USA citizen this summer after seven years in the country. ‘I came to the USA in 2017 when I was 28 years old. Thanks to the application my mom submitted to bring me here from El Salvador, I was able to start working at PCS in 2018.’ Congratulations Vanessa, you did it! Your journey is truly inspiring. Embracing a new country and carving out a successful career path is no small feat. You’ve not only adapted but thrived, contributing significantly to our team. We are fortunate to have you with us!

PCS 4th Annual Golf Tournament

On September 26th, our team swapped their office chairs for golf carts and hit the greens for the PCS 4th Annual Golf Tournament! It’s always a blast when our crew from Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania comes together for some quality bonding time away from the daily grind. And, let’s talk about the big winners of the day: Brent Jones, Jake Baxter, Dan Forbes, and Mike Schmidt! These guys truly brought their A-game. For those who love stats—we’ve got the scores to prove their victory!

Former Johnson & Johnson

A Comprehensive Two-Story Renovation

Our team is undertaking a comprehensive two-story renovation at the former Johnson & Johnson building in Lancaster, PA, to transform the space into a new facility. The project encompasses several key demolition tasks to pave the way for new developments. On the second floor, we are removing CMU and GWB partitions as well as dismantling concrete slabs, mezzanines, associated columns, and stairs. Additionally, steel stairs and supports are being carefully removed and disposed of to ensure a clean slate for future construction.
On the first floor, our efforts include removing overhead doors, casework, GWB soffits, and flooring throughout to prepare for new installations and finishes. All mastic will undergo diamond grinding once flooring removal is complete. Our team is also tasked with eliminating CMU and GWB insulated partitions alongside ACT (Acoustic Ceiling Tiles) and GWB ceilings.
By meticulously executing these tasks, we aim to lay a robust foundation for the future developments in this iconic building.
