WIC Spotlight – Jenny Matz, Client Services Manager

Today’s #WICWeek2019 spotlight features, Jenny Matz, our Client Services Manager in our PA Division. Jenny has been with PCS for over 14 years and she truly is a jack of all trades for our company! Jenny started off in the MD Corporate office back in 2005 and eventually filled more important roles in our PA Division. Her daily responsibilities tend to brush across many different departments such as Administration, HR, Operations, Estimating, and Sales. Jenny has developed long-term relationships with dozens of clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic which she is responsible for maintaining on a regular basis. Jenny also assists our Estimating Division with organizing bid calendars and with the follow-up of outstanding proposals. When asked what her advice to young women considering a career in construction would be, she replied “Do it and do not second guess yourself by thinking it’s a male-dominated industry. This industry is fun and it is filled with rewarding challenges daily!”

What has working in the construction industry done for you, both professionally and personally?

PCS has proven to be a company that cares about its employees, no matter what position you hold. Everyone is needed to keep the machine running. Hard work and dedication will pay off. Construction is a fun industry and it keeps you on your toes and I love that.

What is your favorite aspect of working in the construction industry?

Every day is a new adventure.

What’s the most challenging part of your job?

Every day something new happens and it needs to be solved. I enjoy working with our team to solve these challenges. It could be writing a work plan and learning how our Estimators and PM’s plan on removing a connector bridge or getting information to our Preconstruction Manager to get a job started or helping Lauren to find out how do we get prints for our guys to bid this job.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Establishing new clients and working with our great group of people.

What would you say to younger females considering a career in construction?

Do it and don’t second guess yourself by thinking it’s a male dominated field. The construction world is fun and it’s filled with rewarding challenges daily. Being a women in construction gives you an advantage. You stand out at a job site and people will remember you and the company you represent. This gives us an edge, use it! Be confident and speak up and always remember it takes all of us to make this machine run, women and men
