Columbia Association Swim Center Waterslide Demolition

PCS. Inc. is onsite this week removing two 42-foot high waterslides at the Columbia Association Swim Center. PCS was contracted by Barton Malow to assist in the renovations to the Swim Center. Both slides, each averaging 270 feet in length, and its steel supports are being removed one manageable section at a time. The sections are supported by nylon lifting straps. These straps are attached to a crain hook attachment that is mounted to the forks of a 10,000 pound capacity shooting boom forklift. The fiberglass and steel are being cut with reciprocating saws and unbolted as needed from the basket of a 60-foot man lift. Sections are then lowered to the ground, transported to waste disposal cans and minimized with a skid steer loader and a Bobcat mini excavator.
