Project Details

PCS, Inc. was contracted by Witmer Restoration to provide Selective Demolition and specialized Saw Cutting services at Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD. The intent of this project was to remove the railings of the outside hallways and assist in the renovations of the dorms on campus. The project involved removing 36 block wall panels that were four courses high and nine blocks wide and removing 24 CMU scones that consisted of two angled precast masonry blocks. Our demolition crews also removed two metal lintels that were supporting each panel.
PCS’s specialized team torch-cut in between the masonry blocks and the metal lintels in order to remove the railings. After they were separated, blocks could be safely removed. As a safety precaution, each worker tied off via safety harness to a secure part of the building.
